Custom Book Blurb

Your book blurb, or “back matter,” is your book’s second-most important marketing tool after your book cover. A good blurb will make readers want to read more. To create a book blurb that will market your book accurately and speak to your target audience, this service includes a read through of your manuscript and market research on book blurbs in your age category and genre.

What you’ll receive:

• A custom book blurb of approximately 150-200 words.

• Two optional half-hour consultations.

PRICE: $250 USD

TURNAROUND TIME: 4 weeks (depending on the length of your book).

PAYMENT PLAN: $50 USD to book, the remainder after author receives book blurb.

 

Book Synopsis

A book synopsis is necessary when working with cover designers or when querying your book to potential agents. It should convey your book’s overall tone, story, and voice. To write an accurate and engaging synopsis, this service includes a read through of your book.

What you’ll receive:

• A custom synopsis of your book at approximately 500-1000 words.

• Two optional half-hour consultations.

PRICE: $400 USD 

TURNAROUND TIME: 4 weeks (depending on the length of your book).

PAYMENT PLAN: $50 USD to book, the remainder after author receives book blurb.

 

Book Blurb and Synopsis Package 

This package comprises both a custom book blurb and a custom synopsis. It includes a read through of your book and market research on book blurbs in your age category and genre.

What you’ll receive:

• A custom book blurb of approximately 150-200 words.

Book Coaching

One-on-one book coaching and consulting via your choice of phone call, FaceTime, Zoom, email, or text message. This service provides support for authors who would benefit from a conversational, back-and-forth interaction with an editor. It is best for authors who want guidance in finishing or editing their manuscript on a developmental and/or line level. It includes reading over the sections of writing needing feedback prior to sessions. This way, the session is spent on discussion and feedback, not on reading. The client, however, may also choose to show writing within the session. 

PRICES:

• First half-hour session: FREE.

• Per session: $25 USD per half hour, $50 USD per hour.

• Five Session Package: 

  • $100 USD for half-hour sessions (saves $25 USD).

  • $200 USD for hour-long sessions (saves $50 USD).

• Ten Session Package

  • $200 USD for half-hour sessions (saves $50 USD).

  • $400 USD for hour-long sessions (saves $100 USD).

 

Market Research

Market research is useful at any stage of the writing or marketing process. It helps you determine your target audience and how to best market your book to them. Market research highlights what story aspects your genre is oversaturated with and ones most enjoyed by readers. It aids you in creating a unique book that it meets or exceeds reader expectations.

This service includes: 

• One read through of your finished or unfinished manuscript.

• Reading, analyzing, and reporting on books in your age category and genre, along with other relevant media (ex. TV, film, music, and podcasts).

• Reports on what your audience enjoys and criticizes about the books and media included in the report, based on information from book review sites, social media, and other online platforms.

• Any articles, statistics, and resources relevant to understanding your target audience.

Note: The amount of books, media, and articles included in reports depends on the length of the books or media and the client’s choice of market research package. 

What you’ll receive:

• One free half-hour consultation prior to beginning market research.

• A well-organized report containing:

  • A profile of your target audience.

  • Analysis of books and relevant media  in your age category and genre.

  • Recommendations on how to write or market your book with your target audience in mind.

• Optional free consultations during market research, subject to availability.

• One free hour-long consultation after market research is completed and the report is submitted.

• Free consultations during custom research, subject to availability.

• One free hour-long consultation after custom research is completed and the report is submitted.
